Voices of Hope Choir
![]()
The Voices of Hope Choir has been performing for the past three years, under the direction of Enid Hardacre. They have had eight or nine engagements, all of which have been very worthwhile for them. The choir likes to work towards a goal, and are more that a sing-along or drop-in group. They work at developing themselves musically and vocally, and enjoy preparing for a show. Many members have mentioned that they want the choir to ‘raise the bar’ and to continue to strive to sing better and learn new music. They have enjoyed all their gigs, having performed at the CNO conference two years ago, and at the National conference last November. Their performance this past spring at City Hall was quite special. They have also sung at several seniors’ residences and support groups in the GTA. The choir has become an important support group for its members. They meet once a week; therefore, have gotten to know each other very well. Outside of practice, they have social get-togethers several times a year. Different people gain different benefits – both directly and indirectly – from participating in the choir. As director, Enid “notices that PD members become louder as they sing through practice.” Sylvie, a choir member, reports that “my voice becomes clearer after practice”. Robert enjoys “the feeling of fellowship”, while Karl adds “you feel cheerful for days following practice and sing more at home.” Choir practice includes warm-up activities and exercises to prepare for each practice. The choir continues to try and increase its membership. If anyone is interested in joining, please contact Elizabeth McCaw at 416-227-3377, or elizabeth.mccaw@parkinson.ca. |
