October 31, 2011 - Jamie Kennedy's Porridge Our wonderful third party event Porridge for Parkinson's has received a great dealof media coverage, including this recent article in The Star.
October 1, 2011 - Votto helps old coach fight Parkinson's PHILADELPHIA - Joey Votto wasn’t looking for publicity. He was simply trying to help out his former coach Steve Plumley battle Parkinson’s disease. Plumley coached Votto as a youngster in Etobicoke. The Cincinnati Reds first baseman signed and personalized 60 photos, donating as a prize, an official Louisville Slugger bats which he autographed. Votto also sent a message to each participant: “With your pledge we move one step closer to finding a cure for Parkinson’s.”
July 1, 2011 - Pedalling to Support Parkinson's Research View this article; which appears in Parry Sound Lifestyles promoting Peter Istvan's upcoming personal event, Pedalling for Parkinson's in Parry Sound. Subsequently, the Pedaling event has received coverage again in Lifestyles and also in The Weekender.

A number of articles written by CNO about care of people living with Parkinson's appear in the Restorative Professionals Alliance of Ontario Newsletter in the Fall 2010 edition, including an ad for our new Get it on time program. In April, 2010 CNO and PSC opened trading in Toronto to kick off Parkinson Awareness Month

Can your nose tell the difference between gasoline and bubble gum, lemon juice and fish? If not, your loss of smell may be an early warning sign of some kind of neurological disease, Parkinson’s included. The chronic, degenerative brain disorder, described by Britain’s Dr. James Parkinson in 1817, affects more than 100,000 Canadians and is expected to rise in incidence over the next 30 years from 11.6% to 23.6%. It’s estimated that world-wide five million people live with Parkinson’s – including high profile stars such as actor Michael J. Fox and boxer Mohammed Ali. In people with Parkinson’s, the brain cells that normally produce a chemical called dopamine stop functioning, resulting in symptoms that affect a person’s quality of life and overall health. Those symptoms may include involuntary trembling, stiff and rigid muscles, stooped posture, or a change in facial expression (such as an absence of blinking) sometimes referred to as the Parkinson’s stare. For over a century, neurologists have relied on these changes in the motor system as a way of diagnosing the disease. But now, many are convinced that there are non-motor symptoms (some of which were previously dismissed) that play a significant role in the disease’s development. ...Read more.
